About Venom Vit

Venom Vit refers to venomous bites and stings that can cause systemic toxicity, requiring immediate medical intervention. These envenomations can range from local tissue damage to life-threatening systemic effects including coagulopathy, neurological dysfunction, and cardiovascular collapse.

Pathophysiology

Venoms contain complex mixtures of enzymes, peptides, and proteins that disrupt normal physiological processes through multiple mechanisms. These toxins can cause direct tissue necrosis, interfere with neuromuscular transmission, disrupt coagulation cascades, and trigger severe inflammatory responses leading to capillary leak and shock.

Clinical Reasoning

Assessment focuses on identifying the envenoming species, monitoring for systemic toxicity signs, and determining antivenom requirements based on severity grading. Treatment priorities include airway management, hemodynamic support, antivenom administration when indicated, and management of specific complications such as coagulopathy or compartment syndrome.
